Synopsis: IIM Ahmedabad has revised its MBA 2026–28 admission criteria, raising the qualifying CAT cut-off to 95 percentile for General candidates and 85 percentile for PwD candidates. The hike is the steepest in recent years. Shortlisted applicants will appear for AWT and PI, with shortlists expected in January 2026.

The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad has revised its admission criteria for the MBA 2026–2028 batch, introducing a significant hike in the minimum CAT cut-off. As per the latest admission policy released by the institute, the qualifying CAT percentile for General category candidates has been increased to 95 percentile. This marks the sharpest rise in IIM Ahmedabad’s qualifying cut-off in recent years. Until last year, the minimum qualifying CAT percentile for General category candidates stood at 80.

According to the updated policy, the overall qualifying CAT cut-off for shortlisting candidates for the 2026 admission cycle is 95 percentile for the General category and 85 percentile for PwD candidates. Meeting this qualifying benchmark is mandatory for candidates to be considered for the next stage of the selection process.

The IIM Ahmedabad admission process comprises two major phases. In the first phase, candidates are shortlisted for the Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI) based on their CAT 2025 scores. The institute is expected to release the PI shortlist in the first week of January 2026, following the announcement of CAT 2025 results.

Candidates who meet the qualifying CAT cut-off must also complete an online application form available on the official IIM Ahmedabad website to participate in the AWT and PI rounds. Final admission offers will be made after the completion of all selection stages, as per the institute’s evaluation criteria.
