Synopsis: The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has received approval to open a new campus at GIFT City, Gujarat. The centre will offer its flagship MBA (International Business) and support trade research and training. This move aligns with NEP 2020 and aims to boost India’s global trade education ecosystem.

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) has secured official approval from the Ministry of Education to establish a new off-campus centre at GIFT City, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This milestone aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is expected to advance India’s international trade education and research infrastructure.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) granted approval under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, following IIFT’s compliance with the requirements listed in the Letter of Intent issued in January 2025. These included a detailed institutional roadmap, faculty readiness, plans for a modern campus, and provisions for advanced academic infrastructure.

The upcoming centre, situated on the 16th and 17th floors of GIFT Tower 2, will offer IIFT’s prestigious MBA in International Business. It will also host short-term executive training programmes and contribute to research in global trade and commerce.

Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal congratulated IIFT, calling the development a major step in grooming trade professionals.

Established in 1963, IIFT holds A+ NAAC and AACSB accreditations, making it globally competitive. The new campus is poised to further strengthen India’s ambition of becoming a global export leader by nurturing trade-ready professionals with modern skills and policy insights.
