IIT Kanpur MBA 2026 Admissions: CAT-Based Selection, Fees, Cut-Offs and Process Explained

IIT Kanpur’s MBA programme, offered through its Department of Management Sciences, continues to be a strong choice for management aspirants. As per the NIRF Rankings 2025, the IIT Kanpur MBA is ranked 27th among the top management institutions in India. The total programme fee stands at approximately INR 9.28 lakh, payable semester-wise in instalments.

Admission to the IIT Kanpur MBA 2026 will be based on CAT 2025 scores. The MBA application process is expected to begin in January 2026, shortly after the declaration of CAT results. The selection rounds, including Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI), are likely to be conducted during March–April 2026, with interview centres in Noida and Kanpur.

The admission process involves three stages: application using CAT scores, shortlisting for GD-PI, and final selection. To be eligible, candidates from General, EWS and OBC categories must have a minimum of 60% aggregate in their bachelor’s degree, while SC/ST/PwD candidates require 50% aggregate.

For shortlisting, the minimum CAT cut-off is 80 percentile for General/EWS/OBC candidates and 55 percentile for SC/ST/PwD categories. Final selection is based on a composite score that includes CAT performance, academic record, work experience, GD and PI scores. Admission offers will be issued via email by May 2026.The application fee for the MBA interview form is INR 2000 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and INR 1000 for SC/ST/DAP candidates.
