The global demand for MBA programs is on the rise again, with a significant 19% increase in applications to two-year MBA programs in the United States. This surge, observed in 2024, marks a strong recovery following a period of decline. A major factor behind this growth is the increasing number of Indian applicants, reaffirming India’s role as a key contributor to international business education trends.
India, along with China, continues to be a leading source of applicants for business schools across the US, Europe, and Asia. Meanwhile, institutions in Canada and the United Kingdom have reported a decline in applications, possibly influenced by changing immigration policies and job market conditions. However, business schools in continental Europe have seen a record rise in applications, with Indian students playing a major role in this upward trend.
Another factor driving the interest in full-time MBA programs is the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into business school curricula. Many Indian institutions are emphasizing AI applications in decision-making, strategic planning, and business ethics. Additionally, financial aid opportunities, including merit-based scholarships in North America and Europe, have made international MBA programs more accessible for Indian students.
Despite changing global admission trends, first-generation MBA applicants from India continue to rise, further strengthening India’s growing influence on the international education landscape.
