Synopsis: Candidates applying for TANCET 2026 — for admission to MBA, MCA and other PG courses in Tamil Nadu — must fulfil certain academic requirements. For MBA, this includes having a recognized bachelor’s degree (minimum 3-year) with at least 50% marks (or 45% for reserved-category from Tamil Nadu). There is no age limit or attempt limit, and final-year students are also eligible.

As applications for TANCET 2026 draw near, the entrance-exam body has reaffirmed the eligibility requirements for prospective candidates. Those eyeing admission to postgraduate courses such as MBA or MCA via TANCET must ensure they meet the academic and category-based criteria before applying.

Academic Qualification & Marks Requirement

To appear for TANCET (for MBA), a candidate must have completed a Bachelor’s degree of at least three years duration from a recognized university.

  • General-category candidates must have secured 50% or more aggregate marks in their qualifying degree.
  • Reserved-category candidates (BC, BCM, MBC, SC, SCA, ST from Tamil Nadu) have a relaxation — a minimum of 45% aggregate is acceptable.

Alternative acceptable education patterns include: 10+2+3/4/5-year degree, 10+3-year diploma followed by a 3-year degree, or equivalent credentials (e.g. AMIE + specified experience under certain conditions).

Miscellaneous Requirements

  • There is no upper age limit specified for TANCET aspirants.
  • There is also no restriction on the number of attempts — candidates can re-apply in future cycles if desired.
  • Candidates in the final year of their bachelor’s degree are generally allowed to appear, subject to fulfilling degree-completion requirements before admissions.
  • TANCET is open to graduates from all states, though certain seat-allocation norms might differ for out-of-Tamil Nadu students.

What Aspirants Should Do Before Applying

  • Check whether your bachelor’s degree and marks meet the minimum cut-offs.
  • If you belong to a reserved category, ensure you have a valid category certificate for claiming relaxation.
  • If applying with alternate credentials (diploma + degree, AMIE + experience), verify that your qualification pattern matches the accepted norms.
  • Make sure any final-year students complete their degree and get proof ready for admission verification.

As the registration window for TANCET 2026 is expected to open soon, prospective candidates should verify their eligibility carefully before applying. Meeting eligibility norms is the first step; ensure documentation is also in order for a smooth admission process.
