Anna University, which administers TANCET for postgraduate programmes in Tamil Nadu, has released detailed guidelines for the 2026 session of the exam. Candidates preparing for MBA and MCA admissions should note the following key highlights. 

Exam Schedule & Registration

  • The notification for TANCET 2026 is expected in the second week of January 2026.
  • Registration will likely commence in the third week of January 2026, with the last date for application around the third week of February 2026.
  • Admit cards will be made available in the first week of March 2026, and the exam is scheduled for the second week of March 2026. Results are anticipated by April 2026.

Exam Pattern & Structure

  • Mode: Offline (OMR sheet)
  • Duration: 120 minutes
  • For MBA: 100 questions divided into 5 sections — Business Situations; Reading Comprehension; Quantitative Ability; Data Sufficiency; English Usage. Each section has equal weightage.
  • Marking scheme: +1 for each correct answer; –¼ for each incorrect answer. No negative marking for unattempted questions.

Eligibility & Syllabus

  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university; final-year students may apply.
  • The syllabus for the MBA exam covers topics in business situations analysis, quantitative aptitude (including algebra, geometry, probability, statistics), reading comprehension, data sufficiency, and English language usage.
